Description of the project
Co-financed by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, it is a partnership between EuropeWave Energy Scotland (WES), the Basque Energy Agency (EVE) and Ocean Energy Europe (OEE). This partnership, consistent with the decarbonisation and industrial competitiveness objectives of the European Green Treaty, will contribute to achieving the European Commission’s 100 MW marine energy targets by 2025 and 1 GW by 2030.
It is a competitive pre-commercial public procurement programme, an innovative R&D initiative in wave energy technologies. The call for first aid for the development of wave energy capture devices was published in 2021. In the following stages, the most promising technologies have been selected to continue in the next phase in order to capture economic resources. In the final phase, three open water technologies will be tested and displayed, two in BiMEP and one in Scotland.
