ICTS-MARHIS is one of the unique Scientific-Technical Infrastructures (ICTS) of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain. In particular, MARHIS (Maritime Aggregate Hydraulic Infrastructures) is a research infrastructure in the field of hydraulic engineering, distributed over 5 nodes: LIM/UPC, IHCantabria, CEHIPAR, PLOCAN and BiMEP.
ICTS-MARHIS offers a unique combination of laboratories, field facilities and numerical tools that rely on the experience of two of the leading institutions in Spain in the field of hydraulic engineering such as IHCantabria and LIM/UPC. The technological services of these five infrastructures are offered on a coordinated platform to any public or private entity. The experience and equipment of MARHIS members offer an unprecedented capacity to solve, design, build and exploit various aspects of maritime, offshore and coastal engineering.
Thus, MARHIS allows the scientific community and the private sector, access to aggregate facilities, deepen the understanding and modelling of the complexity of the physical processes involved and their interrelationship with the natural environment and socioeconomic activities. It also makes it possible to open new lines of research and technological development in undeveloped areas of Spain.
